Charles Hermann & Co.
Charles Hermann stoneware Factory operated in Milwaukee from 1856 to 1886. They used imported clay and produced mostly salt glazed or Albany Slip glazed wares in large quantities
Chris Dauffenbach later moved to New Ulm, Minnesota and continued to work there as a potter/decorator. His flower is very distinctive. Later, the C. Hermann & Co. business adopted a similar flower as a standard that appeared on many of their later decorated pieces.
The flower on this crock and many like it seem to have been derived from Dauffenbach's earlier version.
